In the year 1993 Sagmeister created the ‘York-based Sagmeister Inc’, since then he has created design works for clients such as The Rolling Stones, HBO, and the Guggenheim Museum. He has been nominated five times for Grammy awards and won a Grammy for the ‘Talking Heads boxed set’.
Sagmeister originates from Austria and he got his MFA from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. and achieved his masters at Pratt Institute in New York.In early 2008, a book titled Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far was published. exhibits of Stefan's work have been displayed in Zurich, Vienna, New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Osaka, Prague, Cologne, Seoul and Miami. He lectures in the graduate department of the School of Visual Art in New York and lectures extensively on all continents. 

Sagmeister created works of art with his CD covers that revealed the artist’s personalities, Sagmeister used lazer-cuts, die cuts and model building and his concepts won him two Grammys for his designs.


In 2008, after Sagmeister realized the irrelevance of CDs in the modern age, he took a year break from all media and commercial work by going to Bali. It was during this year of absence that Sagmeister had a moment of clearance Sagmeister gave birth to his text based art work.


Four years after his trip to Bali, in 2012, Sagmeister changed his career path once more, Sagmeister and his assistant Jessica Walsh posed naked for the front cover on a post card for his new film at the time.
